A Review on Role of Nickel in the Biological System
نویسندگان
چکیده
Nickel (Ni) is a naturally occurring metal existing in various mineral forms and it is present in all compartments of the environment and ubiquitous in the biosphere as nickel compounds and complexes. It is a silvery-white lustrous metal with a slight golden tinge. Nickel belongs to 3d group transition metals and is hard and ductile. Nickel is one of the five ferromagnetic elements. It is also a naturally magnetostrictive material, i.e. in the presence of a magnetic field, the material undergoes a small change in length (Hathaway and Clark, 1993). Nickel is used in a wide variety of metallurgical processes such as electroplating and alloy production as well as in nickel cadmium batteries. Besides it plays a well defined role in the biological system and plants (Sigel et al., 2008; Sydor International Journal of Current Microbiology and Applied Sciences ISSN: 2319-7706 Volume 5 Number 3(2016) pp. 719-727 Journal homepage: http://www.ijcmas.com

A Review of The Role of The Microbiome on Immune Responses and Its Association With Cystic Fibrosis
In recent years, the microbiome has been recognized as a key regulator of immune responses. Evidence suggests that changes in the microbiome can lead to chronic disease and even exacerbation of the disease. Impairment of innate immunity resulting from microbial incompatibility may worsen host susceptibility to infection and exacerbate chronic lung diseases. Specific microbes play a key role in ...

Nitric oxide (NO) is known as an unstable signaling molecule that can be produced by three different NO synthase (NOS) isoforms. It plays a vital role in a wide range of physiological processes in the body. For instance, in cardiovascular system NO acts as a blood vessel relaxant, while in central nervous system (CNS) it acts as a neurotransmitter. In reproductive system it regulates gonadotrop...
متن کاملInsights into role of microRNAs in cardiac development, cardiac diseases, and developing novel therapies
Objective(s): MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are a subfamily of small noncoding RNAs that play a variety of roles in regulating gene expression in nearly all organisms. They affect different biological pathways by post-transcriptionally regulating mRNAs. Aside from miRNAs’ role in maintaining cellular homeostasis, their perturbation is related to several pathologic states and dis...
متن کاملRole of Arbuscular Mycorrhizal (AM) Fungi in Phytoremediation of Soils Contaminated: A Review
Pollution of the soil environment with toxic materials from fossil burning, mining and smelting of metalliferous ores, disposal of sewage, fertilizers and pesticides, etc. has increased dramatically since the onset of industrial revolution. Application of plants with ability of absorbing heavy metals is a low-cost alternative for eliminating soils from heavy metals. Phytoremediation uses plants...

The bio-psycho-social approach to health psychology adopted a critical view of the bio-medical model. That was the dominant model of the 19th century. It was presumed that biological factors those the only etiological and therapeutic factors contributing to diseases and took a significant step toward the prevention and treatment of diseases. The field of psychoneuroimmunology was developed base...
متن کاملZiziphus mauritiana mediated synthesis of copper and nickel nanoparticles for comparative efficacy in biological water purification
The burden of life on the earth is the source of biological contamination in water. Nanotechnology has promising contributions in control of microbial contaminations and medicinal plants further increase these properties. Presently, copper acetate and nickel oxide nanoparticles were synthesized using 1mM solution of each with Ziziphus mauritiana leaves extract as reducing agent. Nanoparticles w...
